Why Action Stack exists

Making change shouldn't be this complicated.

Starting a petition, finding supporters, raising money or organising something should not mean becoming an expert in websites, databases and software first. Action Stack exists to make the useful action easier.

Our mission

Remove the barriers between wanting to make something happen and actually doing it.

People should be able to start with what they have, give others something useful to do and build momentum from there.

The straightforward things should be straightforward. When the work genuinely gets complicated, that should not stop people either.

What we believe

The technology should make action easier.

Start where you are.

If you have nothing yet, that should not stop you. Start with one useful action, find people who care and build momentum from there.

Keep what works.

If you are already up and running, you should not have to throw everything away. Add what you need without starting again.

Technology should remove barriers.

Software should help people do things. The straightforward parts should not require organisations to become technology experts.

Grow when you are ready.

You should not need to buy or configure everything on day one. Start with what you need now and add more as your work grows.

And sometimes it actually is complicated

That is what Action Stack Labs is for.

Not every problem should be turned into a self-serve button. Labs helps when you need someone to connect systems, move data, automate a process, build something unusual or work out why something is not working.
